As our business continues to grow, we are currently seeking a skilled and experienced full-time cook to join our kitchen team. Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare, season, and cook a variety of Italian dishes using ovens, grills, stoves, and other kitchen equipment, while monitoring and regulating temperatures to ensure food is cooked safely and meets quality standards.
· Portion, plate, and garnish dishes with appropriate gravies and sauces to ensure quality presentation and taste.
· Customise meals upon request to meet special dietary requirements, including allergy-sensitive and cultural food preferences.
· Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in line with established standards for quality and appearance.
· Maintain proper mise en place and an organised workstation to support efficient kitchen operations.
· Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring all tools and surfaces are cleaned and sanitised after each shift.
· Check refrigeration and freezer units regularly to ensure proper storage temperatures and food safety.
· Handle, store, and prepare food following strict food handling and cleaning procedures, including sanitising of surfaces and utensils to ensure food safety and prevent cross-contamination.
· Assist in stock control by monitoring inventory levels, placing orders, and rotating stock to minimise waste and maintain supply.
· Work closely with front-of-house staff to support timely food service and enhance the overall dining experience.
· Assist in menu planning and development as directed by the chef.
· Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
· Assist with training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff under the supervision of the head chef.
Requirements:
· Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery is required. Additional qualifications in hospitality are advantageous but not essential.
· At least 1 year of proven experience as a Cook, preferably in an Italian cuisine environment.
· Practical knowledge of a variety of Italian cooking techniques, with experience preparing both traditional and modern Italian dishes.
· Good understanding of Italian culinary methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment to ensure food quality and authenticity.
· Proven experience working in a commercial kitchen environment, with the ability to support smooth workflow and timely food preparation during busy service periods.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
· Passionate about preparing high-quality food with attention to taste, presentation, and consistency.
· Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a kitchen team.
