The Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity for a CA or CPA qualified finance professional to take full ownership of the finance function for the largest subsidiary of a national group operating in the essential services sector. Based on the Gold Coast, this is a hands-on and strategic role where you’ll lead all core finance activities while working closely with the Managing Director and broader leadership team.

The Challenge
In this autonomous Financial Controller role, your responsibilities will include:

• Full ownership of the finance function including reporting, budgeting, forecasting and tax
• Leading the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reports
• Managing statutory obligations, including BAS, FBT and income tax compliance
• Leading budgeting and forecasting cycles, including financial modelling and variance analysis
• Providing strategic and operational support to the Managing Director and business unit leads
• Mentoring and developing a small team of two finance professionals
• Overseeing general accounting, cash flow reporting, and process improvement initiatives
• Liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies

The Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CA or CPA qualification
• Proven experience in a senior finance position within a commercial, industrial or essential services environment
• A hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the confidence to work independently
• Strong technical skills in financial reporting, tax and FP&A
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across operations and leadership
• A proactive mindset and a desire to drive continuous improvement
