Apply Your Technical Expertise to Make a Lasting Impact
As Western Australia’s primary water and environmental regulator, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has a responsibility to be an influential and future-focused organisation. Our vision is for a low-carbon Western Australia with a healthy environment and secure water resources for future generations.
We are excited to offer three (3) opportunities to join our Environmental Protection Authority Services (EPAS) directorate — two (2) permanent and one (1) fixed-term position (three years).
Are you a dedicated and experienced environmental professional ready to make a real impact? Join us in leading science-based environmental impact assessments under Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986. You’ll play a key role in shaping Western Australia’s environmental future by delivering high-quality environmental advice that supports the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and the Ministers for Environment and Water. Your work will contribute to government priorities and drive continuous improvement in environmental impact assessment within Western Australia.
As a Principal Environmental Officer, you will assess state-significant, complex, and often high-profile development proposals, requiring consultation and negotiation on environmental matters with a range of diverse stakeholder groups from across department, government, industry, and the community. You’ll also provide leadership, mentoring, and scientific guidance to your peers, while supporting the branch manager on strategic initiatives and urgent or contentious environmental matters.
