Dress for Success NSW & ACT is looking for a passionate Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our Newcastle-Hunter branch, delivering life-changing services that support women on their path to economic independence. We provide free professional clothing, a network of support, and career development programs to help women achieve employment and financial security.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role for a motivated and proactive leader with strong operational management skills, a sharp eye for business growth, and a passion for social impact. We’re looking for someone who can drive boutique performance, expand our presence through strategic partnerships, and lead with purpose. You'll manage day-to-day operations, inspire a team of dedicated volunteers, and play a pivotal role in building our brand and increasing our impact in the region.
What you’ll be doing:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the planning and management of the day-to-day branch operations of local Dress for Success services. This role ensures we deliver our strategic priorities in Newcastle-Hunter region.
Manage day-to-day operations of the Newcastle-Hunter branch, ensuring outcomes align with strategic priorities and KPIs within assigned budgets.
Business development and fostering partnerships including employment and referral agencies, community services and funding partners.
Schedule and coordinate client appointments and oversee boutique services provided by volunteer teams.
Lead local volunteers, including recruitment, rostering, training, and recognition.
Manage clothing donations and stock management, working with our sustainability strategy.
Support fundraising initiatives and act as a local ambassador.
Ensure compliance with WHS, policies, and procedures.
Monitor and review client satisfaction levels and respond to feedback.
What you’ll bring to the role:
You be able to demonstrate these essential skills and experience:
At least 5 years' experience as an Operations Manager, ideally in a community-focused or customer-facing setting.
Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to effectively coordinate a range of concurrent activities under pressure.
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective business relationships with stakeholders across a range of industries.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proven experience managing a team.
Medium-High level Microsoft Office skills.
A practical mindset, a love of collaboration, and a can-do attitude.
Passion for our mission and a commitment to equality, empowerment, and professionalism.
Current Drivers Licence.
The following skills are also desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience working in the not-for-profit or employment services sectors in the Newcastle-Hunter region.
Familiarity with CRM and database systems (ideally Salesforce).
Previous experience managing volunteers.
Previous experience working with or providing services to vulnerable, disadvantaged and CALD communities.
Interest in fashion and styling, plus sustainability and circular economy.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current NSW Working with Children Check and unrestricted rights to work in Australia. An Australian Police Check is also required before offer of employment.
