Seeking a motivated and commercially minded Assistant Commercial Finance Manager to join our Commercial Finance team in Sydney. This role offers a strong foundation in financial planning and commercial support, and is ideal for early-career professionals looking to deepen their impact and influence in a business-critical finance function.
You will play a key role in supporting decision-making across the business by contributing to business case development, customer profitability analysis, and marketing cost base planning. Your work will enable more effective resource allocation and contribute directly success of the organisation.
What you will be accountable for?
Business Case Development & Financial Planning
Assist in the development and financial evaluation of business cases, particularly in relation to new commercial opportunities and the renegotiation of customer agreements.
Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to support business decisions and enhance commercial outcomes.
Contribute to customer profitability analysis to inform and refine commercial strategy.
Marketing Investment Planning & Cost Base Management
Partner with Commercial Finance Manager in the end-to-end financial planning of Marketing Investments, including budgeting, forecasting, and target setting.
Deliver robust performance insights and variance analysis to drive accountability and informed decision-making.
Continuously monitor budget performance across functions, providing timely updates, variance analysis, and actionable insights to finance leadership and budget owners.
Reporting & Analytics
Act as a finance business partner to the Commercial team, delivering financial insights and guidance to support strategic customer initiatives.
Lead the month-end process for marketing cost centres, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in line with financial policies and governance standards.
Manage internal and external audit processes related to marketing investments, ensuring full compliance with applicable financial controls.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Degree educated ideally in commerce / accounting / finance, with professional qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/MBA)
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar commercial or finance role in a dynamic operating environment in a large global organisation, is a plus!
Experience in strategic analysis, data analytics and business modelling, project planning and execution, commercial foresight.
Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesise, communicate and present sophisticated information
Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, proactive, collaborative and consultative
