About the Role
Due to significant growth in the business, we have a new opportunity for a dedicated Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator to join our team on a project based out of central Queensland. This will be a 2 week on 1 week off roster, with camp accommodation provided on site.
You’ll be employed on a contract basis on site for this project where you have the opportunity to make this role your own and support an exciting project.
Camp accommodation and meals will be provided or LAHA depending on project allocations.
PIP incentive project specific.
Company transport from airport & camp to site.
You will require:
- Drivers Licence / government issued photo ID card
- Experience on Mine Sites (required)
- Section 4 medical (MUST HAVE or be willing to complete)
- Standard 11 (MUST HAVE or be willing to complete)
- Glencore Generic (desirable or be willing to complete)
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and monitor compliance with FCS Integrated Management System in compliance with ISO45001, ISO9001, and ISO14001.
Conduct routine site safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to proactively identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Recommend and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain a safe and compliant work environment, while ensuring alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
Report non-conformances and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to improve safety performance and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and reporting, and coordinate the implementation of preventative measures.
Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments to ensure employees and contractors are competent to safely operate equipment and perform assigned tasks.
Work collaboratively with the client, operations, project managers and supervisors to embed safety and training practices into daily site activities.
Facilitate the development, review, and ongoing maintenance of Project Management Plans, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA)
Support the preparation and submission of site and company reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain accurate safety and training documentation and programs, including inductions, registers, inspections and emergency response.
Support and monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements and provide coaching or training as needed to align with company standards.
Coordinate and facilitate emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills, equipment readiness, and emergency team coordination.
Assist with the return-to-work process by coordinating with injured workers, supervisors, and health professionals to ensure a safe and supported reintegration into the workforce.
Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers and leadership to reinforce safe work behaviours and continuous improvement.
Essential – Skills and Attributes
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
Proven experience producing high-quality correspondence and documentation, with proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Strong data entry and information management skills, with the ability to accurately analyse data and make informed decisions.
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
Skilled in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with team members, management, and client stakeholders.
Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying practical and effective solutions.
Creative thinker with the ability to "think outside the box" to resolve challenges and improve processes.
Safety-focused, with a strong commitment to adhering to and promoting safe work practices at all times.
Reliable and punctual, with a results-driven mindset and a proven track record of achieving objectives and delivering high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety Environment, Certificate IV or higher
Certificate IV in Trainer & Assessor (TAE40122 or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience in conducting audits and incident investigations
Ability to successfully complete and pass a Section 4 medical assessment
Current or ability to obtain a Standard 11 mining induction card
