About Us:

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.

About your opportunity:

As a Victim Liaison Services Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of vital services to victims of crime, while providing leadership, training, and mentoring to Victim Liaison Officers across prosecution chambers throughout Queensland. Here's what makes this opportunity extraordinary:

  • Lead with Purpose: Oversee the delivery of services that uphold the Charter of Victims' Rights, Director's Guidelines, and the ODPP's Victim Liaison Manual, ensuring victims receive the support they deserve.
  • Drive Positive Change: Shape and refine policies and procedures in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, ensuring the Victim Liaison Service remains effective, relevant, and impactful.
  • Turn Data into Action: Compile and analyse statistical reports to identify trends, inform decisions, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Inspire and Empower: Mentor, guide, and train Victim Liaison Officers, fostering a supportive and skilled team dedicated to assisting victims of crime.
  • Be a Knowledge Builder: Design and deliver engaging training programs to enhance the expertise and capability of the Victim Liaison Service team.
  • Champion Victim Needs: Ensure ODPP procedures and staff are attuned to the unique needs of victims of crime, providing compassionate and tailored support.
  • Be a Guiding Light: Initiate contact with victims of violent crimes, offering guidance and support as they navigate the complexities of the legal process.
  • Set the Standard: Oversee the quality, content, and timeliness of correspondence with victims, police officers, legal practitioners, and court staff, ensuring clear and respectful communication.
  • Build Strong Connections: Liaise with victim stakeholder groups, legal practitioners, court officers, government representatives, and victims and their families, acting as a trusted representative of the ODPP.

We're looking for an experienced, dynamic, and motivated professional to fill this integral role. Here's what success looks like:

  • Deep Understanding of Justice: You have a thorough knowledge of how victims of crime interact with the Criminal Justice System, underpinned by a strong grasp of relevant legislation.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Your well-developed interpersonal and written abilities enable you to liaise and consult effectively with staff and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and understanding.
  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: You excel at developing insightful reports, analysing statistical findings, and turning those insights into actionable recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Calm Under Pressure: You thrive in high-pressure environments, skillfully managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Inspiring Leadership: Your strong leadership skills empower you to motivate, mentor, and build the capability of victim liaison staff, fostering a supportive and high-performing team.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a role; it's your opportunity to engage with some of the state's most pressing legal matters while making a genuine difference in the community. Think you're ready for the challenge?
