About the role
The Logistics Coordinator supports the daily planning and execution of GFC’s logistics operations. This role coordinates the safe and timely receival, dispatch, and delivery of live lobster, bait, and general supplies across vessels, landing sites, depots, and processing facilities.
The Logistics Coordinator provides frontline administrative and operational support to the Logistics Manager, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, clear communication with fishers and drivers, and smooth, cost-effective product movements that maximise returns to members.
Duties include:
Coordinate schedules for receival and dispatch of live lobster, bait, and general freight.
Maintain accurate records for receival and transport movements.
Communicate daily plans and updates to drivers, depot staff, and fishers.
Monitor vehicle locations to ensure timely deliveries.
Complete paperwork for transport movements, vehicle maintenance, and compliance checks.
Update MEX maintenance records and fleet servicing schedules.
Prepare reports on daily logistics activities and performance.
Support documentation for capital expenditure and fleet maintenance approvals.
Maintain professional communication with fishers, drivers, depot staff, and suppliers.
Respond promptly to enquiries and assist with minor operational issues.
Escalate complex matters to the Logistics Manager as needed
What we are looking for in candidates
To ensure success in this role, you should have the following skills:
Qualifications
Desirable: Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Operations, or related field.
Essential: Frontline Leadership or Team Supervision training.
Experience
Essential: Minimum 3 years' experience in logistics, operations, or transport scheduling.
Essential: Experience leading teams and managing rosters in high-tempo operational environments.
Desirable: Experience in seafood, primary production, or live product handling.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong planning and organisational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Understanding of WHS responsibilities and transport compliance requirements.
Proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in dynamic environments.
Competent in Microsoft Office and digital scheduling/logistics systems.
Calm, professional approach to decision-making and conflict resolution.
