Would you like to contribute to policy and reforms to ensure the energy transition is fair and equitable for all Victorians? Do you have empathy and a passion for creating better outcomes for energy customers? Are you able to evaluate problems from multiple perspectives and deliver outcomes which address varying stakeholder needs? If so, the Principal Policy Officer role in the Consumer Protection Frameworks team may be for you.

This role provides the opportunity to design and develop robust and consumer-centric reforms to Victoria's retail energy market to make energy accessible, fair and affordable for all customers. Working within a flexible, supportive and collaborative team and branch, the successful candidate will manage and lead workstreams to provide authoritative, clear and timely advice on policy and implementation options for energy retail and consumer protection matters and reforms and will provide support and guidance to team members in their delivery of transformative policy advice and reforms. The successful candidate will also develop and prepare high-quality written documentation, including briefings, correspondence, submissions, presentations and reports for a range of audiences including the Minister and departmental executives, and support team members to do the same. The ability to work collaboratively, and maintain effective relationships, with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy development and implementation of reforms to support transparency, consumer protections, affordability and a fair energy transition is also required.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Government processes and operations in policy development and reform implementation, particularly energy policy, is highly desirable.
