About Leaptel
Leaptel is a fast-growing Melbourne-based internet service provider delivering lightning-fast, rock-solid connectivity with a people-first approach. We’re passionate about customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As we grow, so does our commitment to doing things right, staying compliant, and navigating change with care and clarity.
We’re on the lookout for a Policy Officer who can help us stay ahead of regulatory obligations and industry shifts. If you love translating complex legislation into practical advice, creating policies that get used, and collaborating with curious, committed teams, this role is for you.
The Opportunity
As our Policy Officer, you’ll be the go-to person for all things regulatory. From reviewing legislation and updating policies to preparing submissions and advising teams, you’ll help ensure Leaptel remains compliant while keeping things clear and constructive for the business.
In this role, you’ll:
Track regulatory changes across telecommunications, consumer protection, online safety, and critical infrastructure.
Draft, review, and maintain policies and procedures that reflect current obligations and best practices.
Work closely with teams to ensure compliance requirements are understood, implemented, and embedded.
Prepare and contribute to submissions to regulatory bodies such as the ACCC, ACMA, and NBN.
Provide advice on compliance matters and support process improvements to stay ahead of change.
Build trusted relationships across the business and with regulatory stakeholders.
About You
You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy turning complexity into clarity. You're skilled at translating regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance that teams can confidently act on. More than that, we’re looking for someone curious, thorough, and motivated to grow with us - not just ticking boxes, but thinking ahead and helping us do things better.
You’ll ideally bring:
Experience in compliance, policy, governance, or legal advisory, ideally in telco, tech, finance, or another regulated industry.
Strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to interpret legislation, regulatory codes, and industry frameworks.
Excellent communication skills, especially when simplifying complex topics into user-friendly policies, updates, or advice.
A collaborative working style and the ability to build strong, trusted relationships.
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
A degree (or near completion) in law, business, public policy, humanities, or a related field, and a willingness to learn about technology and telecommunications.
