The Role:
Our client are a growing Financial services business based in Sydney who are looking to hire a Senior Project Manager to join their team on a number of new IT projects. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of complex, high-impact projects from initiation through to completion. This role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and aligned with strategic business objectives. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage risks and dependencies, and maintain strong stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, strong vendor management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria in alignment with business strategy
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations
- Track project progress, manage dependencies, and ensure timely delivery of milestones
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
- Apply change control processes to manage scope and stakeholder expectations
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, and service providers to ensure delivery of contracted services and project outcomes
- Define vendor engagement models, scopes of work, and performance expectations
- Coordinate procurement activities including RFPs, vendor evaluations, and contract negotiations
- Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and KPIs, and escalate issues as required
- Ensure vendor compliance with organisational policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with legal, procurement, and finance teams to manage contract lifecycle and renewals
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency
- Facilitate regular project updates, steering committee meetings, and executive reporting
- Communicate risks, issues, and decisions clearly and proactively
- Foster collaboration across teams and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum
Key Skills:
Proven experience managing complex projects and programmes across business and technology domains
Knowledge of financial systems ideal
Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities to navigate ambiguity and resolve challenges
Exceptional planning, prioritisation, and time management skills
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Excel) and methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMBOK)
