ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a key position within the organisation’s Integrity Unit, responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation and evolution of safeguarding practices across the sport. Reporting to the General Manager of Player Safety, Research & Policy, the role acts as the central point of contact for child safeguarding matters. You’ll work closely with state bodies, internal stakeholders, and external agencies to ensure best practice and policy compliance are embedded throughout the organisation.
DUTIES
- Lead national safeguarding strategy and ensure alignment with relevant legislation across all jurisdictions
- Stay across state-based legislation and child safety requirements, including nuanced legal differences across Australia
- Maintain and evolve the organisation’s Child Safe Safeguarding Framework
- Collaborate with state bodies, clubs, and internal stakeholders to implement consistent standards
- Review and manage broader organisational policies (10–20% of the role)
- Support the triage of incidents and contribute to complaint handling processes
- Provide policy advice and guidance across the organisation
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that support behavioural and cultural consistency across the sport
- Partner with relevant agencies, including Sport Integrity Australia, on reviews and recommendations
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in child safeguarding, child protection, or compliance-related roles
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks
- Background in government, education, sport, or community services highly regarded
- Experience developing and maintaining policies in complex, stakeholder-rich environments
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence across all levels
- Relevant qualifications in child protection, policy, compliance, or legal disciplines are highly desirable
