Do you want to be a part of a team that promotes and improves the health of its people and community?
This is for a Permanent Full Time appointment.
What is our Team Leader role?
We are looking for a dynamic team leader for our Child and Adolescent Forensic Service (CAFS). You will bring a passion for working in a complex multidisciplinary care environment and delivering high quality care to complex cohorts. You will have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, experience leading teams and a drive for facilitating health service change.
CAFS is a newly established statewide specialist community mental health service, aimed at 10–18-year-olds with serious mental health difficulties, who are in contact with the justice system or at risk of serious offending. The CAFS role is to reduce risk and improve outcomes for young people in consultation with other agencies and service providers. The CAFS clinical services are delivered in partnership with a non-government organisation, currently Yirra Dandjoo, provided by Centrecare and Waalitj Foundation, who offer psychosocial and cultural support.
The CAFS service has just opened a new custom-designed community forensic service in Northbridge, has a growing specialist clinical workforce and is transitioning from a consultative service to an expanded clinical care delivery model. Our new team leader will bring their experience of working within a complex health environment, leadership, change management and people management skills to support the service expansion, establish the new integrated model of care and bring the CAFS team on this journey.
CAFS is part of the State Forensic Mental Health Service (SFMHS) which provides mental health services for individuals with mental illness associated with high-risk behaviours and who are typically involved in the criminal justice system. Our multidisciplinary services are delivered across a variety of settings including inpatient beds, the community, prisons, detention, and courts, in partnership with The Department of Justice, Department of Attorney General and other health providers. CAFS forms part of the SFMHS Child and Adolescent stream which also includes the Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health Service within Youth Detention and the Links Children’s Court program.
There has been substantial State Government investment in forensic mental health services, which includes the establishment of new Child and Adolescent services. Funding of over $185 million has been committed for new adult and child and adolescent forensic mental health units, with further announcements expected. Additional services are also being implemented in relation to the Criminal Law Mental Impairment (CLMI) reform with expansion across all service streams, including CAFS.
