ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for:

Mentoring

Engage with new employees to ensure they have all the necessary tools to be successful in their new role, gain feedback on their on-boarding experience and provide them with support as needed.

Act as a mentor and provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Student and Volunteer Placements

Develop student and volunteer policies and procedures.

Develop volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation.

Process student and volunteer applications, undertake recruitment and selection of students and volunteers including carry out pre-placement checks.

Develop strong and positive working relationships with Coordinators and Managers to support student and volunteer placements.

Coordinate on-boarding and off-boarding processes for students and volunteers.

Support students and volunteers throughout their placement.

Maintain external stakeholder relationships with service providers and Aboriginal organisations.

Human Resources

Process study leave applications.

Keep up to date on current and emerging skill needs of industry and the community.

Support Human Resources recruitment and selection processes.

Continuously review human resources processes to ensure best practice and adherence to relevant standards, policies and procedures.

Assist with staff induction training as required.

Records Management, documentation, filing, photocopying, maintain staff personnel records in the HR system of record.

Assist with general HR enquiries.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, protocols, boundaries and experience working within the Aboriginal community

The ability to communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders

The ability to foster effective, consistent and collaborative working relationships

Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline

Proven experience as a HR Officer/Administrator or other HR position

Ability to be an effective member of a team and work autonomously

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

Outstanding organisation and time-management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skill

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

WA Working with Children Card

National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)

WA Drivers Licence
