The opportunity
As the Category Specialist, you will work closely with a large and inclusive team of technical experts focused on success.
You will be responsible for facilitating and executing the procurement function across Airbus Australia Pacific, for assigned procurement categories/contracts/suppliers. The Specialist Categories will work in accordance and compliance with all processes, systems and tools set by Strategic Procurement, to enable service delivery excellence.
Reporting into the Manager Strategic Procurement, the Specialist Categories is tasked with driving effective procurement solutions in support of Airbus Australia Pacific and Strategic Procurement objectives. As part of procurement deliverables, the member is charged with facilitating end to end procurement, including planning, sourcing, contract and supplier management.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Foster and maintain strong working level relationships with peers from across the various Programs and Functions, ensuring timely stakeholder inputs are received and customer operational requirements met, for contracts managed
- For contracts/suppliers allocated, ensure supplier compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
- Ensure allocated responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner, allowing customer operational requirements to be met
- Foster and maintain an effective working relationship with allocated suppliers, ensuring both parties are working to a common goal in a transparent and accountable environment
- Ensure procurement activities are conducted in accordance with policies, processes and procedures
About you
To be successful in this role you will need to live the Airbus Values, work with passion and determination, able to work to tight deadlines in an environment of continuous improvement. You will have a proactive approach and positive response to change and will have well-developed analytical, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
The skills and experience suited to this role:
- 5-7 years' experience in a procurement role conducting sourcing and/or contract management activities
- Demonstrated ability to drive efficiencies, including cost savings, in a procurement environment
- In-depth understanding of sourcing and operational requirements for procurement, including leading practices fit-for-purpose procurement processes, systems and tools
- Demonstrate ability to effectively lead complex negotiations to deliver objectives
- Commercial acumen, including the ability to operate in a complex procurement environment to achieve pragmatic, sound and timely business decisions
- Ability and desire to take ownership of topics and proactively lead/manage resolution of those problems on behalf of the Team/Customer
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction
Other experience, skills and qualifications that would assist you in this role include:
- Working experience in SAP or equivalent ERP
- Degree Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commerce or relevant discipline
- Membership of a Contract Management, Procurement or Supply Chain Industry Organisation/Body
