The Company

Avant Group is a specialised professional services firm providing technical expertise, project management and grant advisory services to clients from a range of sectors.

Avant Group is dedicated to advising clients and providing infrastructure and support as they invest in new capital expansion, jobs growth and research projects. Our firm delivers a unique service offering – to help clients grow.

This exciting new role is for a R&D Project Associate to support application content development and manage R&D projects on behalf of clients.

The business deals with an array of clients across industry sectors ranging from manufacturing, biotech, food and beverage, software, agriculture, and more.

If you are technically astute, enjoy working across diverse clients and thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment – and have exceptional written skills – this could be the opportunity for you.

The Role

This role involves a high level of compelling and technical writing, project coordination and regulatory reporting.

The role is challenging but exciting. You must have strong business acumen, and superior communication skills that can be proven and demonstrated with your prior experience.

This role involves high levels of client and organisational collaboration, sharing technical expertise and creating innovation to guide clients as they solve complex challenges, empower change, drive disruption and growth. This role is seeking a skilled and talented team member with the potential to make an extraordinary difference for our clients.

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Plan, schedule, and coordinate R&D projects across a range of industries, tracking key milestones and deliverables to ensure projects remain on target and within scope.

· Liaise with clients and internal teams to clarify technical project details, manage expectations, and provide regular progress updates throughout the project lifecycle.

· Conduct technical investigations to assess eligibility under the R&D Tax Incentive, maintaining accurate working notes and preparing audit-ready documentation to support compliance.

· Oversee the collection, review, and organisation of technical and financial data required for R&D submissions, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and engagement terms.

· Manage reporting outputs, contract variations, and project scope adjustments while tracking time allocations to support smooth project delivery and accurate client invoicing.

· Prepare high-quality, technically accurate written documentation for R&D submissions, translating complex concepts into clear, compliant narratives that meet regulatory standards and support audit readiness.

The Offering

Our clients are leaders in innovation – and we are proud to support their work. This role offers unparalleled exposure to exciting projects across Australia and access to cutting-edge organisational thinking and R&D execution.

Our niche, hands-on model sets us apart – from technical investigations through to strategic reporting and project delivery, we provide the structure and expertise our clients need to succeed.

Join our dynamic team and play a central role in enabling change, innovation and growth for Australian businesses.

Next Steps

This is a unique role that welcomes applicants from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.

Working alongside our Client Advisory team, you will analyse project data and prepare detailed application content and documentation that supports our clients’ success in accessing R&D incentives and grants.

To be successful, you’ll need:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong stakeholder engagement experience

A scientific background and understanding of the Frascati methodology

Combined technical and legal qualifications (e.g. tertiary education in STEM and Law)

An interest in technical projects and ability to interpret and structure complex data

A collaborative and client-centric mindset

Availability for occasional travel to client sites across Australia

Please note: this is a full-time, onsite role due to the sensitive nature of client data and internal systems. Remote work is not available.

Pay: $76,515.00 – $80,000.00 per year
