Maroondah City Council has an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our Engineering Services Department.
The successful candidate will have the ability to significantly contribute to the development of the Engineering Services Department, and to assist the Manager Engineering & Building Services to provide coordination, support and mentoring to the Engineering Projects & Drainage team.
The successful candidate will also value customer service excellence and working in partnership with other areas of Council and the community.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Coordinate and supervise the Engineering Projects & Drainage Team service delivery to reflect overall Council objectives, priorities and service standards including staff development, performance monitoring and reviews;
- Coordinate and monitor the Engineering Projects, Design and Drainage Team service delivery including allocation of tasks, monitoring of workloads, assigning resources, time management, review of works programs, reporting on progress, and financial reporting to ensure the delivery of the Capital Works Program within the required timeframes and budget;
- Project Management of major capital works projects for the Engineering Services Department, and other projects as required, including the development of project documentation, management of the tender process, contract administration, management of design consultants and contractors, financial control and reporting, and management of key stakeholders;
- Coordinate the Drainage Team including the carrying out of drainage investigations and associated reports, drainage project design and modelling, and drainage strategy development, review and implementation; and
- Provide high-level advice to the Manager Engineering & Building Services, Director Strategy and Development and Council, on matters relating to Engineering Capital Works, drainage infrastructure and flood mitigation works, and organisational major projects. Prepare new strategies as required relating to Capital Works Project service delivery and advise on the currency and effectiveness of existing strategies, policies and procedures and recommend on amendments/additions as required in accordance with industry best practice to achieve service improvements.
The successful candidate will possess:
- relevant tertiary qualification(s) in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) to allow for you to become a Registered Engineer as per the requirements of Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019;
- demonstrated experience in project management, design consultancy and construction supervision, and contract administration;
- demonstrated experience in a supervisory role in a local government environment;
- demonstrated experience in dealing with the community, contractors and consultants; and
- excellent written and verbal communication skills.
