Tenure: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Fremantle and Rottnest Island (commuting), Western Australia
The Environment Officer assists in developing and implementing conservation programs and projects and provides information and support to the Environment Conservation Coordinator and the Manager (Conservation). The role undertakes activities to ensure the appropriate protection and management of the reserves’ natural marine and terrestrial systems to meet statutory and strategic goals defined in management plans, strategies and annual business plans.
The Environment Officer plays a key role in the development, review and reporting of the Rottnest Islands Conservation Management Strategies and the implementation of the associated research, monitoring and operational programs.

Selection Criteria
- Felicitous written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Considerable understanding of, and experience in, the preparation and delivery of operational programs to manage key processes to support and monitor the status of key wildlife elements.
- Proven ability to manage small projects (including scoping, budget, and reporting) to deliver planned outputs within budget and timeframe.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams including supervising and supporting team members to achieve results.
