Management Accountant

As the Management Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Financial Planning and Analysis function, driving insights, and ensuring robust financial reporting while working closely with cross-functional teams.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Senior Financial Planning Analyst, you will provide critical support in financial reporting, cost analysis, and operational decision-making. Your role will help streamline processes and ensure the financial integrity of a fast-paced mining operations environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and delivering accurate and timely financial reports.
• Manage Fixed Assets and Capital WIP Reconciliation, including capex submissions, costs allocation for approved capital projects, depreciation schedules, fixed asset additions, and disposals.
• Maintain monthly inventory valuation and deferred stripping cost models.
• Collaborate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by working closely with operational departments to gather data and ensure accuracy.
• Develop and refine reports to facilitate cost analysis and identify improvement areas.
• Analyze trends, provide insights to management, and flag potential areas of concern or opportunity.
• Prepare regular management reports, KPIs, and performance-monitoring metrics for informed decision-making.
• Provide financial support to operational and corporate stakeholders.
• Support compliance by maintaining internal controls and adhering to accounting policies and procedures; participate in audits and assist with process improvements as needed.
• Assist the Financial Accounting team during annual audits.
• Perform additional ad hoc duties to support the Senior Financial Planning Analyst.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of operational accounting experience in the Mining sector.
• ERP system experience, preferably Oracle and/or Pronto.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel modeling (desirable).
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional communication skills (written and interpersonal).
• High attention to detail coupled with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to travel to site operations monthly.
• CA or CPA qualification (or currently working towards certification).
