We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Transport Supervisor to join our Port Hedland team.

About the Role

As the Transport Supervisor, you will work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure smooth scheduling and optimum utilisation of our fleet, including rigid tilt tray trucks, multi-combination vehicles, and specialised equipment including semi tilt trays and 4x4 and 8x4 floats. Your expertise in the transport industry, combined with your strong planning and organisational abilities, will be crucial in overseeing the daily transport operations of our Port Hedland Depot.

This is a residential role and no FIFO option will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and monitor fleet movements to ensure safe, cost-efficient, and reliable freight distribution.

Manage heavy haulage and road transport requirements, including permit applications for oversized loads.

Plan and assess routes for efficiency and safety, while consolidating general freight operations.

Uphold a strong commitment to safety, ensuring driver compliance with fatigue management and load restraint regulations.

Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional relationships with internal teams and clients.

Proactively engage with the team to promote company values and align with client needs.

Assist the Transport Manager in managing the team of drivers and utilisation of assets across the state.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with mine site access requirements local to Port Hedland and be confident navigating the loading and unloading processes in line with site-specific safety induction and compliance standards

Assign appropriate trailers based on load dimensions and weight.

Have an understanding and ideally some experience with the movement of high-risk machinery and wheeled loads including the guidelines for load restraint compliance.

A huge part of your role will be to assist in the growth of the transport sector of our business and your KPIs will be closely aligned to this.

About You:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a transport supervisor role.

Previous HC/MC driving or load restraint training and or certification will be highly regarded

Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing teams in the transport industry.

In-depth knowledge of linehaul, including the Northwest region’s mine sites and towns.

Strong understanding of customer service principles, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.

Must be able to rotate on and out of hours and weekend on call roster

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Transport Management Systems.

Familiarity with the Pilbara region and its logistical challenges.

Hands-on, can-do attitude with a commitment to safety and compliance.

Solid understanding of the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and asset utilisation.
