The Opportunity:

As the Director of Defensive Cybersecurity, you will be instrumental in leading, building, and expanding Cybertify's Defensive Security practice. You will oversee all engagements related to cloud security, Zero Trust, identity security, data loss prevention, SIEM, EDR/MDR/XDR, email security, and application security. Your role will involve driving strategic growth, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring our Elite Cyber Squad continues to deliver rapid, effective, and compliance-driven defensive solutions for our diverse, regulated clientele.

What You'll Do:

Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Cybertify's Defensive Security service offerings, setting new benchmarks for proactive defense and resilience.

Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of highly skilled defensive security professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and innovation in threat detection and response.

Practice Management: Oversee the operational delivery of all defensive security engagements, ensuring high-quality outcomes, client satisfaction, and adherence to agile methodologies.

Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance and oversight on complex defensive architecture design, solution implementation, and operational best practices across various domains (e.g., multi-cloud security posture, advanced threat detection, identity and access management).

Service Enhancement: Continuously evolve and refine defensive security methodologies, tools, and processes, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and threat intelligence.

Business Development: Collaborate with the leadership team on business development activities, including proposal writing, client presentations, and showcasing Cybertify's defensive capabilities to C-level executives and boards.

Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and boards, providing strategic insights on defensive cyber strategy, risk reduction, and achieving robust regulatory compliance (e.g., Essential Eight, ISO 27001, APRA CPS 234).

Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of emerging defensive technologies, evolving threat landscapes, and industry best practices in cyber defense.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all defensive security deliverables meet Cybertify's unwavering commitment to quality, precision, and effective risk mitigation.

What You'll Bring (Your Elite Cyber Squad Leadership Credentials):

10+ years of progressive experience in defensive cybersecurity (security architecture, engineering, operations, threat detection), with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role within a consulting firm or enterprise security team.

Demonstrated success in building, leading, and scaling high-performing defensive security teams and practices.

Deep, hands-on expertise across a broad range of defensive security domains, including cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), Zero Trust principles, SIEM/EDR/MDR/XDR, identity and access management (IAM/PAM), DLP, and application security.

Exceptional strategic thinking coupled with a strong understanding of technical details and operational execution.

Proven ability to interact and influence at executive and board levels, articulating complex cybersecurity risks and the value of robust defensive strategies.

Strong knowledge of global and Australian regulatory frameworks (e.g., Essential Eight, ISO 27001, APRA CPS 234, Privacy Act, HIPAA, PCI DSS) and how defensive security contributes to compliance and assurance.

Relevant defensive security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CCSK, GCPN, GDAT) are highly desirable.

Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

A proactive, agile mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in cyber defense.

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is a mandatory requirement.
