PRODUCTION PLANNING ASSISTANT

Are you a hands-on, detail-oriented individual with a passion for production efficiency and process improvement? Yella Terra is looking for a Production Planning Assistant to support our growing team at our Truganina production facility. This is a unique opportunity to combine practical shop floor involvement with administrative and planning responsibilities, offering real potential for growth into production management or supply/demand planning roles.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a vital role in coordinating production processes, maintaining inventory, and ensuring accurate production documentation. You’ll work closely with both the mechanical production and assembly teams while also contributing to planning, reporting, and continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Administration:

Assist in daily production scheduling and coordination

Generate shop packets, picking reports, and close out discrete jobs

Maintain and update production and inventory data

Prepare production reports, monitor KPIs, and suggest improvements

Support procurement by raising requisitions and following up on orders

Maintain document control for SOPs, maintenance logs, and training material

Communicate effectively with production teams to relay updates and resolve issues

Mechanical Support & Inventory Control:

Assist with mechanical assembly and testing of components as needed

Operate machinery in the machine shop under supervision

Organise and maintain inventory in “Smart Cabinets” and track consumables

Perform cycle counts and support stock accuracy initiatives

Coordinate maintenance activities on key production equipment

Contribute to process improvement projects

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

Trade qualification in Fitting/Machining or related field or Bachelor’s degree (or currently studying) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Good organisational, communication, and time management abilities

Desirable:

Experience in a manufacturing or production environment

Familiarity with production planning tools and processes

Knowledge of quality control procedures and documentation

Enthusiastic, collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
