Role Description: Practice Nurse (Registered or Enrolled) – Part-Time | Maternity Leave Position
We are a well-established, specialist ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) practice located in Burwood, seeking a caring, motivated, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) to join our friendly and dynamic team.
This is a part-time maternity leave relief position, working 3 days per week – Wednesday to Friday, for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
You will be joining a busy practice with 6 ENT specialists, where we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality patient care in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
Nursing skills
Experience in an ENT or healthcare setting is a plus
Registered Nurse OR Enrolled Nurse
Genie Software knowledge would be a plus
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A caring and compassionate approach to patient care
Key tasks:
-Surgery bookings through private and public hospitals.
- Provide patients with surgery cost estimates and clearly explain the details of the quote.
- Offer detailed explanations to patients about their surgery by discussing the procedure, and reviewing both pre-operative and post-operative care instructions when sitting down with them.
- Answer patient questions about their conditions, treatments, and post-surgery.
- Offer support and reassurance to patients undergoing complex or invasive treatments.
- Post op suture / plaster and splint removal.
- Post op phone calls and assessing patient status and needs.
- Perform pre and post operative airflow testing.
- Communicate important updates or changes in patient conditions to the healthcare team in a timely manner.
- Perform allergy testing.
- Immunotherapy.
- Chasing up patient results.
- Checking and linking pathology and radiology.
- Sterilising instruments throughout the clinic.
- Order and stock necessary medical supplies as required by the practice.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of medical supplies, ensuring that adequate stocks are available for patient care.
- Assisting with reception tasks as required.
- Triaging referrals
- Assisting surgeon as needed throughout clinic.
- Assist the specialist during medical procedures and surgeries (if applicable), ensuring instruments and equipment are ready and sterilised.
