ABOUT THE ROLE…
This position is responsible for supporting organisational goals by managing the collection function associated with direct customers and when requiring hardship support, maintaining, and fostering professional relationships with internal and external customers, minimising the organisations exposure to risk, developing policies and procedures for managing financial hardships, and delivering on agreed KPIs and reporting framework. This role also involves liaising closely with the Team Leader, Collections in relation to debt recovery matters and contributing to the development of supporting strategies.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train, coach, and guide team members to enhance engagement, capability, and performance.
  • Foster a culture of learning, improvement, and service excellence while ensuring compliance.
  • Handle customer hardship inquiries and develop tailored solutions per policy and regulations.
  • Monitor and audit vulnerable accounts, report to management, and oversee recovery actions.
  • Analyze hardship data, bad debts, recovery rates, bankruptcies, and delinquencies.
  • Manage invoicing, direct debits, month-end processing, reporting, and bad debt reconciliations.
  • Build strong relationships with the Client Relationship team to manage expectations and discrepancies.
  • Support the Collections department in various tasks as needed.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in managing and coaching high-performing teams.
  • Background in accounting, preferably in collections or financial hardship.
  • Strong training, coaching, and constructive feedback skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with active listening.
  • Strong technical, numerical, and knowledge-sharing abilities.
  • Solid finance, commercial, and business acumen.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and deadline management.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Strong numerical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
