Role Summary

As our Lead Carpenter, you’ll play a pivotal role in the delivery of residential construction projects from site setup to handover. You’ll be responsible for leading the on-site team, coordinating trades, and ensuring that work is completed to a high standard, on time and on budget. This is a hands-on role, ideally suited to someone who thrives in a leadership position and is passionate about custom renovations and residential builds.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all on-site carpentry work on renovations and extension projects

Interpret and work from architectural drawings and construction documentation

Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, labourers, and apprentices on-site

Ensure work is completed to high standards of quality, safety, and compliance

Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, clients, and suppliers

Manage materials, deliveries, and on-site schedules

Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks where required

Use digital tools like BuildPass to log progress, compliance, and communication

Provide mentoring and support to apprentices and junior carpenters

Skills & Experience

Required:

Qualified Carpenter with Cert III in Carpentry

Minimum 5+ years’ residential construction experience, including renovations/extensions

Experience leading small on-site teams or supervising trades

Strong understanding of construction sequencing and compliance (OHS, NCC, etc.)

Confident reading and interpreting construction plans and documents

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
