Senior Business Analyst – Commercial Insurance Projects

Location: Sydney CBD (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office)
Salary: Up to $140,000 base + super
Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity A newly created opportunity exists for a Senior Business Analyst with deep commercial insurance experience to join a high-performing team delivering large-scale, enterprise-grade technology solutions to the insurance industry.
You’ll work across multiple client and product initiatives, owning business analysis from discovery through to delivery. This role is best suited to someone confident navigating stakeholder complexity, driving workshops, and defining functional requirements in detail. While this is not a deeply technical role, a strong understanding of software delivery environments (SDLC, APIs, system behaviour) is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead business analysis across multiple projects focused on insurance transformation
• Facilitate discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and customer journey mapping sessions
• Document and manage high-quality requirements: epics, user stories, business rules, integration specs
• Work closely with delivery leads, QA, and developers to clarify business needs and ensure end-to-end traceability
• Identify gaps, conflicts, or risks in requirements and propose resolution options
• Translate complex insurance workflows into structured business and functional documentation
• Contribute to ongoing process improvement within the BA practice

What You’ll Bring

• Strong business analysis experience (senior-level), ideally in enterprise environments
• Mandatory: Experience working on commercial insurance products or platforms
• Demonstrated ability to document functional and non-functional requirements clearly and concisely
• Familiarity with the full software delivery lifecycle (SDLC)
• Comfortable managing stakeholders across operations, technology, product, and vendors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to explain complex concepts in plain English
• Independent, organised, and confident working across multiple priorities

Nice to Have

• Experience with SaaS or enterprise software platforms in the insurance or financial services domain
• Agile delivery experience (Scrum/Kanban)
• Relevant BA certifications (CBAP, IIBA, etc.)
