The Opportunity

Are you ready to make a real impact in your community? In this dynamic role, you will take the lead in shaping how we collect and manage critical traffic and flood data, ensuring our systems are accurate, consistent, and effective. You will play a key part in supporting Council's asset management goals by conducting condition assessments and validating data across a range of infrastructure.

Your expertise will directly support the public and stakeholders as you provide detailed technical advice, carry out investigations, and offer insights based on thorough research and analysis. You will also be at the forefront of assessing applications under Land Activity Notices and Road Reserve Permit processes, helping guide important decisions that shape our region.

Position Remuneration: Level 5.1 ($90,851 Base annual salary) / ($103,123 Total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading).

About You

You are a strategic thinker with a keen eye for infrastructure and a passion for shaping well-planned communities. With hands-on experience assessing civil and facilities infrastructure projects, you know how to prioritise effectively and align works with broader organisational goals and strategies.

Your strong understanding of construction and maintenance practices means you bring practical, solutions-focused insights to every project. Whether it's civil works or facility upgrades, you're confident navigating the complexities and making smart, impactful recommendations.

The position's focus will be:

Coordinate the collection and management of traffic survey data including recording, processing, storage and retrieval for Council and the public.

Coordinate the maintenance of Council’s traffic and flood systems and equipment to ensure effective working order and accuracy, including installing, regular monitoring, maintenance and repair.

Collection of asset data (including the use of GPS equipment and mobile mapping software) for input into Council’s asset management and maintenance systems for Council’s roads, stormwater drainage, and other assets.

Continually develop and enhance processes and procedures to ensure the collection of asset data is consistent and aligned to Council’s asset data structures.

Coordinate internal resources for “On and Off Maintenance” inspections for contributed assets and handover of capital projects.

Undertake technical assessments and inspections in responding to customer and stakeholder enquiries relating to Council’s infrastructure.

Prepare project briefs for consideration in future works programs from completed investigations, condition assessments and asset inspections.

Facilitate and chair various asset working groups to develop a collaborative decision-making process across asset stakeholders and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner for the relevant asset classes.

Coordinate approvals for Land Activity Notices covering, Energex, Unity Water, Telstra and Main Roads involving inspections, investigations, conditional approvals and monitoring and evaluation of compliance.

Coordinate the Road Reserve Permit approval process for prescribed activity with delegated authority and apply judgement in the determination of fees, bonds, and conditions to ensure public safety and protection of Council and private assets.

Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
