At the Financial Counsellors’ Association of WA (FCAWA) our vision is to foster a financially resilient Western Australia with reduced financial hardship. We are the voice of financial counselling in WA, advocating for financial equality, fairer marketplace practices, and improved hardship processes. As a small, collaborative, and values-driven team, FCAWA promotes excellence and best practice in the financial counselling sector across WA. Financial counsellors provide free independent support to anyone financial hardship and support people to regain control of their finances.
About the Role
Joining a small supportive and passionate team at an exciting time of growth and change. FCAWA is seeking a part time (0.6 FTE) skilled and enthusiastic Communications and Engagement Officer to lead FCAWA’s communications, strengthen our voice and enhance the public profile of financial counselling. In this autonomous, hands-on role, you will help us tell our story, deepen relationships with members and stakeholders, and ensure our communications reflect FCAWA’s values and impact.
Key responsibilities
Update and implement FCAWA’s communications and engagement strategy
Format and present provided content for newsletters, bulletins and campaign materials, ensuring clear and engaging communications
Manage FCAWA’s digital channels including website and social media
Create clear and engaging content for members, stakeholders and the community
Support media relations and assist the CEO with media responses
Lead member communications during the CRM transition (in collaboration with the project team)
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to promote FCAWA’s voice and influence
What we are looking for
Qualifications in communications, public relations or a related field
Strong skills across marketing, digital communications and media relations
Proven experience managing communications and engagement in a community service, advocacy or not-for-profit setting
Ability to create clear, engaging content across platforms (web, social, email) and translate complex information into user-friendly content
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Experience supporting communications systems change (desirable)
Familiarity with CRM platforms (such as CiviCRM), or similar (desirable)
You will also need to:
Be a permanent resident of Australia
Provide a satisfactory current National Police Clearance
