In 2024, Bloomhill Cancer Care became part of the Leukaemia Foundation, providing support services from its integrative cancer care centre in Buderim to address the growing need for cancer care in regional Queensland. Bloomhill Cancer Care is a local Cancer Care facility, established by the Sunshine Coast community for the Sunshine Coast community, to provide care and support for people of all ages living with cancer.
As a Café Coordinator at Bloomhill, you will work alongside a dynamic group of people working towards changing the lives of people living with cancer and their families. Based within the tranquil, forested surrounds of the Bloomhill Wellness Centre, the café is a social hub where those touched by cancer gather after group classes, treatments or appointments. It is also open to and frequented by the general community and enjoys visits by large groups throughout the week. The café also caters for Bloomhill events and functions throughout the year and its cooks, baristas, wait staff and other helpers are volunteers.
We currently have a vacancy for a Café Coordinator part time, 20 hours, four days per week. The ordinary days of work will be Monday to Thursday, with flexibility to adjust in the future. The pay classification is Restaurant Industry Award 2010, Level 4, Clerical Grade 3 – currently $27.17 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation. We offer generous salary packaging up to $15,900 and packaging meal and entertainment card $2,600.
Key Responsibilities
Cafe Coordination
Management of the daily café operation, including overseeing processes for food preparation, ordering stock and appropriate storage
Front of house activities including customer service, food and drink preparation and presentation
Maintaining accurate sales records and preparation of banking
Training and support of volunteers to ensure daily cleanliness of the cafe is aligned with Food Safety requirements
Ensure stock control systems are in place to record and monitor wastage, as well as control loss of revenue due to theft, waste and error
Preparation of monthly stocktaking
Enforce daily and weekly systems and procedures to ensure a high level of presentation, hygiene, service and product quality
Ensure that all café processes are implemented in an efficient and profitable manner
Team Coordination
Prepare and implement rostering to support effective café operations, coordinating relief cover as required
Identify roster gaps and share feedback with management/human resources
Provide induction, training, mentoring and support to team members and ensure all are familiar with all policies, procedures and guidelines
Promote and maintain harmonious working relationships within the team; cultivating a positive culture that is caring, supportive and resilient
Role Requirements
Hospitality supervisory experience
Food supervisor certificate or willing to obtain
Ability to work independently and take ownership of individual responsibilities
Ability to work as a part of a team of employees and volunteers to support the cafe operation
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills and punctuality
High level of attention to detail
Ability to lift and move items of varying dimensions to support café operations
Ability to work in a culture of continuous improvement
Excellent personal presentation
Alignment with our values and contribute to a productive and positive culture
Good level computer literacy, including knowledge of the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role in hospitality
Demonstrated experience in high level customer service
Demonstrated experience in effective people management
Well-developed communication skills, verbal and written
Demonstrated ability to self-manage
Proven experience in and understanding of the not-for-profit sector, desirable (or ability to acquire)
Knowledge of the Sunshine Coast community and region, desirable (or ability to acquire)
