Kohort Partners has been retained on a search for a Head of Data Strategy & AI with a recently listed financial services organisation.

This is a crucial leadership opportunity reporting directly to the CIO, with direct access to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll bring structure, coherence, and energy to the organisation’s data and AI vision, helping shape a future-focused enterprise with ambitious growth plans.

The current state includes two distinct data strategies, one operational and one product-facing. Your mandate will be to unify them into a clear, enterprise-wide vision that enables efficiency, innovation, and long-term scalability.

This role also has a clear succession path into the CIO role, making it a standout opportunity for someone ready to take that next strategic step.

We’re looking for a pragmatic futurist, someone who is excited by emerging technology but grounded in what’s achievable. You’ll embed responsible AI use, inspire cross-functional teams, and unlock meaningful value across the business.

Key responsibilities:

Own and deliver a unified Data & AI strategy across product and operational areas

Build and lead the AI capability, driving adoption, responsible use, and create efficiency at scale

Ideally you have embedded AI in once capacity or another across an organisation previously

Create clarity and structure around how data is governed, activated, and integrated

Inspire teams and stakeholders—creating energy and excitement for what’s possible across all levels and departments of the organisation

Identify opportunities to drive efficiency, capacity, and value through smart data use

Influence and engage with the ELT and Board on data, AI, and innovation strategy

Stand up future capability, hiring where needed as traction grows

About you:

Proven experience leading enterprise data and AI strategies in complex, tech-enabled environments

Strong understanding of data governance, AI frameworks, and modern data platforms

Skilled communicator with the confidence and credibility to engage senior executives and the Board

Equal parts strategist and doer—you can design the vision and make it happen

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving outcomes in evolving environments

Curious, collaborative, and excited to shape what comes next
