Launch Recruitment are looking for a Head of Data to join an exciting scale up business. Due to the nature of the organisation, someone with E-Gaming, wagering/betting experience would do well in this role.

Location: Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney
Salary - $225,000 plus super , plus bonus, plus equity

Role and Responsibilities

As Head of Data & Analytics you will have end-to-end responsibility for building the Data and Analytics function. You’ll be working with a talented team of engineers, traders and marketers to help us better understand our customers and build better products.

Role Purpose

Define, build and own the businesses data strategy, architecture and data science function.

What you’ll do

- Build a high performing team. You will have the autonomy to structure a team to your liking, then hire people of your choosing.
- Design data and technology architecture for the company, as it relates to trading and customer intelligence.
- Select appropriate technology platforms/vendors as required
- Work directly with the founders and senior team members to help set the strategic direction of the company
- Work with the trading and customer teams to build a sophisticated customer profiling system, rating customers on risk, value and preference
- Work with the customer team to build predictive models that maximise engagement and value (e.g. next best action)
- Work with the wider marketing team to measure and optimise marketing effectiveness
- Work with the product team to help scope, create and build new products that leverage ML
- Work with our responsible gaming team to maximise player protections
- Work with the trading team to maximise margin/NGR

About you

- You have excellent data storytelling skills
- Excellent commercial acumen
- The ability to ruthlessly prioritise work based on impact to the business
- You’re a ‘big picture’ person, but can jump on the tools if required (this will be occasional and short term)
- A strong desire to do world class work and own your role

Experience Required
- 5+ years working in a data science/statistical analysis management role
- Experience managing and growing a team
- Experience developing and designing a strategy
- Advanced understanding SQL & Python/R
- Data visualisation skills highly desirable (we have no incumbent platform, this choice is up to the successful candidate)
- MLOps experience desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in mathematics/statistics/machine learning
- A personal interest in betting, esports, gaming, crypto and/ or sports.
