Role Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Currently, we have been retained to recruit a Design Engineer for our global client that is a member of a large Japanese group. They design, manufacture and distribute advance Hydraulic technologies / Products servicing the transport, industrial and mobile hydraulics sectors. Our client has global manufacturing and distribution footprints with a strong history of over 100 years.

Role Summary:

The company is advancing to a a phenomenal growth phase and this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design engineer to be part of this phase. Mechanical Design Engineer will carry out full design cycle for research and development of new products, technologies, components, processes and systems. Also work to improve the performance and efficiency of the existing products.

Key Requirements:

Design new engineering products and processes to meet the design specifications.

Prepare models and drawings of products using CAD / Solid Works.

Prepare assembly drawings, owners’ manuals, instruction sheets and other engineering documentation

Assess product usability and safety.

Research new product ideas and methods

Estimate cost limits and budgets for new designs.

Improve existing products and processes.

Analyse product warranty returns and conduct causal analysis of failures.

Maintain existing engineering records and designs.

Develop testing rigs and methods to test prototypes and analyse data.

Carry out test and trial fit-ups of equipment on vehicles and provide support to all stakeholders.

Present prototypes and designs to customers.

Coordinate with other engineers, product management and operations.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.

Hydraulics industry experience preferred

Good understanding of manufacturing methods for high volume production including casting design, turning, milling, machining centres, gear manufacturing, heat treatment, metrology, quality systems
