The Role
As Estimator based at our head office in Vineyard, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil and commercial landscaping projects. Your work will involve assessing project requirements, reviewing plans and specifications, and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and precise pricing. You will play a crucial role in securing new projects and contributing to the company's success.

By providing accurate and competitive cost estimates, you will help ensure that the business remains competitive in the marketplace while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in project execution.
Your Every Day
- Review project plans, specifications, and scope to prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and commercial landscaping projects.
- Analyse tender documents, assess project requirements, and prepare cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing for project components.
- Prepare and submit tenders, bids, and proposals in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and assess project risks and opportunities, providing recommendations on cost-saving measures.
- Liaise with the project management team to review estimates, ensuring alignment with project execution plans.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of pricing, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Provide technical support and clarification on estimates during the tender review process.
- Assist in post-tender negotiations and value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
- Track and report on project costs and outcomes to improve future estimating processes.

Who You Are
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Proficiency in, Cubit Expert Estimation, Bluebeam or Adobe PDF, AutoCAD or 12D Model
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in estimating within the civil or commercial landscaping sector, or related industries.
- Proven track record in preparing cost estimates for medium to large-scale civil landscaping or construction projects.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Excellent negotiation skills with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong time management and organisational abilities, with the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Familiarity with industry standards, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated on industry trends and cost data.
