An Estimating Role Where You’re More Than Just a Number-Cruncher
I’m recruiting on behalf of a civil construction client in Penrith who’s looking for a motivated Estimator to join a team that values practical thinking, accountability, and quiet confidence. This is a genuine growth role—not a cog-in-the-machine seat warmer.
If you’re someone who brings a bit of initiative, a dash of humility, and a steady hand with numbers and drawings, this might just be the career step you’ve been looking for.
About You:
You’re comfortable reading plans and using Excel—and know when to ask questions instead of pretending you’ve got it all covered.
You’ve got a practical background (site time, surveying, CA work, or similar), and want to apply that knowledge in a smarter, more commercial way.
You’re not afraid of structure, but you’re not rigid. You value doing things properly without getting bogged down in perfectionism.
You’ve got enough professional polish to deal with clients respectfully and follow up when needed—without waiting to be asked twice.
The Role Involves:
Quoting civil works accurately using Excel and Aroflo (we’ll train you—no heroic assumptions needed).
Reading and interpreting structural, architectural, and civil plans to quote confidently and spot issues before they become problems.
Collaborating with a capable estimator and a solid team to stay on top of workload and project follow-up.
Tracking financials, raising POs, and keeping the backend tidy—not just winging it and hoping for the best.
Occasional site visits to keep you grounded in what’s really happening.
What You Bring:
A steady work ethic and a willingness to learn—without overpromising or underdelivering.
Attention to detail—because estimating isn’t a guessing game.
Integrity and initiative. If you don’t know something, you ask. If you see something that needs doing, you pitch in.
The ability to balance cost awareness with client satisfaction—yes, both matter.
Desirable (but not dealbreakers):
Experience with AutoCAD or drafting tools.
Familiarity with Aroflo or HubSpot.
Understanding of Tier 2 builders or government procurement.
Why This Role?
You’ll be mentored, supported, and challenged—in that order.
The team has a strong culture and values the people behind the numbers.
There’s room to grow—and you’ll never be “just a number”.
Occasional team barbecues, bowling nights, or a round of paintball keep things human.
Sound Like You?
I’m handling recruitment directly for the business. Apply now with your resume and a brief note—or get in touch for a confidential chat. If you’re ready for a role where you can build something solid, this could be your next step.
