Council is seeking a Vegetation Operations Coordinator to join our City Presentation team. In this dynamic leadership role, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of vegetation maintenance services across our city’s most valued outdoor assets including parks, gardens, foreshores, stormwater quality improvement devices, reserves, sports fields, and more.
You will provide hands-on leadership and technical guidance to field teams, contractors, and volunteers to ensure the ongoing health, safety, and beauty of our city’s natural assets.
Other key focus areas of the role include:
Lead and motivate vegetation maintenance teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner
Plan and project manage scheduled and reactive vegetation works across diverse environments.
Deliver on budget and performance targets, driving continuous improvement across operations.
Manage external contractors and tenders, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met
Ensure all works align with Council’s values and regulatory obligations

We are looking for a resilient and collaborative leader with the experience to support and empower a multi-skilled team to operate cohesively, achieve common team goals and provide quality community-focused maintenance services of our public spaces. You take a pragmatic, strategic and forward-thinking approach to business operations including financial and performance planning, risk and asset management, instilling strong safety culture and upholding environmental standards within the team.
Confident with digital tools and systems, you’re comfortable working in a field-based environment and thrive in a role that combines technical know-how with operational leadership.
You will bring:
Diploma qualifications in relevant field such as Vegetation Maintenance, Leadership, Human Resource Management, Project Management; and/or demonstrated extensive experience in a relevant field
High level leadership, communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to lead develop and influence a multi-skilled team in delivering works and services to a high standard of safety, cost competitiveness, quality and timeliness
Demonstrated contract management skills including management of contractors, subcontractors, and consultants
Demonstrated budget management experience, with strong financial skills in cost control
Proven effective risk management of works and assets as allocated with a key focus on safety performance, including a working knowledge of statutory legislation

Competitive salary from $101,090 to $117,483 a year plus 12 per cent industry leading superannuation
Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with reviews available to support movement through the salary range
