The Role
The Memorial’s Research Centre holds the written records of war, both published and unpublished. The Research Centre manages and provides access to these collections. The Digitised Collections team curates, digitises and publishes Research Centre Online Collections and supports the Memorials public programs, exhibitions and projects.
This position directly supports the Memorial’s major digitisation projects and commitment to collection digitisation. Under general direction, this position is responsible for the co-ordination of Digitisation Project program including co-ordinating digitisation workflows of Official Records and some Private Records.
The work involves coordinating, maintaining and monitoring digitisation workflows and includes image ingestion into the Memorial Digital Asset Management System (DAMS), copyright research and the arrangement, description and cataloguing of Research Centre collection material using the Memorial’s Collection Management System. This position also supports the promotion of the Digitisation Project by the production of blogs and social media posts as required.
This position may include rostered hours within the standard ordinary working hours.
Core Responsibilities
Coordinate Research Centre Digitisation Project workflows of Official Records and some Private Records.
Coordinate collections material movements between sites.
Liaise with Memorial Research Centre Curatorial areas.
Arrange, describe and catalogue Research Centre collection material on the Memorial’s Collection Management System.
Copyright research including securing permissions and/or application of exemptions for the Memorial and Digitisation Project for selected Research Centre Collections.
Rehousing, collection movement, ingestion, quality checking and data clean up as required.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
A current driver’s licence
Qualifications in library, archives or museum studies or information management or equivalent.
An appreciation of the Memorial’s corporate goals and priorities and Australian military history.
Position Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
