Your opportunity
Are you a persuasive writer with a strategic mindset and a passion for social impact?

We are looking for Tender & Bid Writers with varying levels of experience to lead the development of high-quality tender, grant, and proposal submissions that secure crucial funding for our broad range of Community Services projects across Australia.

In a vital role with us, you'll be at the forefront of pursuing national and local funding opportunities, responding to Government tenders, and developing proactive bids that align with Mission Australia's vision to end homelessness, strengthen communities and support children, young people and families. You'll work closely with a variety of internal stakeholders-from local community services teams to finance, practice, & impact and housing teams to shape strong, evidence-based submissions that stand out for their clarity, quality, and positive outcomes for people seeking our support.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, have a sharp eye for detail, and enjoy the challenge of crafting compelling narratives that win funding and unlock opportunities-then we want to hear from you.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop compelling tender and grant submissions that win funding to support Mission Australia's (MA's) critical work across 460+ community services contracts nationally.
  • Build effective and productive working relationships with MA internal teams and partnering functions and follow their expert guidance and direction as required.
  • Maintain systems, databases, and workspaces using MA's business development tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Use MA's preferred project management methodology to coordinate tender and bid preparation.
  • Use data in the relevant MA reporting systems to contribute to Business Development reporting, including trend and theme analysis.
  • Work alongside MA's Executives, General Manager Business Development and MA Community Service team leaders on special projects as the need arises.

Requirements for success

  • Undergraduate qualification in relevant discipline (preferred).
  • 2 years'+ experience in tender/grant writing or business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful submission of funding applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working and collaborating effectively with others, ensuring key stakeholders are engaged, sharing information and ensuring progress, changes and issues are effectively communicated.
  • Ability to quickly understand issues in the community services and/or social housing sectors, including Government funding practices and opportunities.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills in developing tenders, grants, and supporting material such as reports, summaries and pitch documents.
  • Action oriented and will take on accountability to achieve results within set timeframes.
  • Ability to meet limited timeframes for tenders and conduct thorough research and evidence gathering to support quality development of them.
  • Skilled in using relevant software applications (Microsoft Office suite).

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks.
