The Lodge Wadjemup
Posted 18 days ago
Are you passionate about hospitality and hotels? Love fixing things and keeping operations running smoothly? Want to lead property operations at one of WA’s most exciting new resorts, right as it enters its next major stage? Then this could be the role for you.
We’re on the lookout for a Property Operations Manager to lead the maintenance and logistics functions at The Lodge Wadjemup – with Stage Two set to open to the public this July.
Proudly locally owned, The Lodge Wadjemup is a unique new offering on Rottnest Island, brought to life by a curated team of Western Australian architects, designers, hoteliers, and tourism leaders. The property is set across landscaped gardens and features 109 rooms – from bunk rooms to spacious family accommodation – with an on-site pool and purpose-built function room launching with Stage Two.
At the heart of the experience are our two dining venues:
Sunset Bar & Dining, a relaxed Mediterranean-inspired restaurant with local wine and beer
The Pelican, a casual kiosk serving artisan coffee and soft-serve ice cream
Both venues are open 7 days a week and available to all Rottnest Island visitors.
Further facilities include a conference and events space, staff housing, and full back-of-house operational amenities.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, fast-paced leadership position. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the physical operations of the property are running safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, with a strong focus on maintenance, logistics, compliance, and supporting a premium guest experience. You'll also work closely with multiple stakeholders across the business to ensure alignment and smooth delivery of daily operations, compliance, and strategic projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintenance Oversight: Implement and manage maintenance schedules, conduct inspections, oversee daily reactive tasks, and coordinate with external contractors to ensure everything is operating at a high standard.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain strong oversight of all safety systems (Safety Champion), ensuring full compliance with OH&S requirements. Lead audits, complete timely follow-ups on incident reports, and instil a culture of proactive safety awareness.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across departments to support shared goals, streamline communication, and deliver cohesive operational outcomes.
Logistics: Manage the flow of goods, equipment, and supplies to and from the island, ensuring all operational needs are met and processes run smoothly.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and support a capable operations team. Foster a strong team culture based on safety, accountability, and service excellence.
Emergency Readiness: Develop and maintain emergency procedures. Act as a key contact in response situations, and coordinate with the Rottnest Island Authority and Emergency services to ensure alignment.
Operational Support: Partner with department heads to resolve issues quickly and maintain a consistent, high-quality guest experience.
Sustainability: Help implement initiatives that reduce the resort’s environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.
Technology & Systems: Use maintenance, property management systems, and project management systems to manage workflows, monitor performance, and ensure timely task completion. Tech confidence is a must.
Budget & Reporting: Track budgets and costs while seeking efficiencies that don’t compromise on guest standards or safety.
Time Management: Prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a high-demand environment.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in hotel/resort property operations or similar
Trade background or qualifications in facilities management, engineering, or a related field (preferred)
Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations and compliance practices
Confident, engaging, and working with multiple internal and external stakeholders
Excellent leadership, time management and problem-solving skills
Tech-savvy and confident with digital systems and reporting tools
Calm, organised, and adaptable under pressure
What You’ll Receive:
Up to $100,000 + super + 10% performance bonus.
Rent-free island living – your room in a fully maintained shared two-bedroom home (all utilities included).
Discounts and perks: 15% off stays, 20% off food, free weekly ferry, golf and lawn bowls, birthday leave, and more.
A truly priceless lifestyle: a four-minute walk to work, no commute, and an island like no other.
Who We Are:
The Lodge Wadjemup, proudly WA-owned, is a purpose-built, design-led resort that honours the heritage and natural beauty of Wadjemup/Rottnest Island. Designed by a team of leading local and national talent, it’s an escape that’s quickly gaining global attention.
Now, with your leadership, we’ll complete the picture.
Make This Your Legacy.
Ready to shape the final stages of one of WA’s most exciting new resorts? Step up to the challenge. Be part of the story, and make your mark on the island, the team, and your career.
