Senior Cost Controller - Global Engineering Business
German Head Office (18-Month Secondment)
Major Renewable Energy Project – Once-in-a-Generation Infrastructure
The Company
Join a globally recognised engineering firm with more than 150 years of experience delivering energy, water, and industrial infrastructure across Europe, Asia, and Australia. This organisation is known for innovation in hydroelectric technology and complex electro-mechanical (E&M) project delivery, with a strong focus on sustainability, precision engineering, and cross-border collaboration.
You’ll be part of a multinational project controls team delivering one of Australia’s most ambitious renewable energy developments — a large-scale pumped hydro project that will reshape the nation’s energy grid.
The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Cost Controller to help lead the financial delivery of this complex E&M scope. For the first 18 months, you’ll be based in the company’s German head office, working directly with global stakeholders and gaining exposure to international best practices in project delivery, before transitioning to Australia to see the work through.
This is an opportunity to play a hands-on role in a technically rich and strategically significant project — offering career-defining experience across borders, teams, and time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of cost control and schedule integration systems.
- Drive accurate forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis on a large, multi-discipline E&M contract.
- Align planning and finance to deliver integrated reports, dashboards, and commercial insights.
- Collaborate across project offices in Europe, Asia, and Australia to support global delivery.
- Contribute to subcontractor claims, change management, risk reviews, and performance audits.
- Support monthly project reporting cycles with high data accuracy and professional presentation.
- Use tools like SAP, PRISM (or EcoSys), Power BI, and Excel VBA to produce actionable reports.
- Mentor junior team members and build cost controls capability within the project team.
What You’ll Bring
- 8–12+ years of experience in cost control or project controls roles on large infrastructure or energy projects.
- Proven ability to manage cost and schedule integration on complex E&M scopes.
- Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and hands-on forecasting experience.
- Advanced skills in project controls software, ERP systems (preferably SAP), and Excel.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Confident communicator, comfortable working across cultures, disciplines, and time zones.
Why Apply?
- Be part of a nationally significant renewable energy project with global exposure.
- Gain 18 months of international experience in Germany — with support for relocation and onboarding.
- Work alongside global experts in a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Flexible transition options to site: full relocation or FIFO (Mon–Thurs) from major cities.
- Competitive remuneration and long-term career opportunities in a global organisation.
Apply now to elevate your cost controls career with a project and company that will define the next generation of clean energy delivery in Australia.
