This diverse and fast-paced position is critical to the smooth and effective operation of The Law Society. You won't just be supporting; you'll be a central figure, working intimately with the Chief Executive, President, Executive, and Council. You will have direct responsibility for key areas of Society activity and the chance to achieve best practice and influence outcomes.
What Your Impact Will Look Like
Provide high-calibre, confidential Executive Officer support to the Chief Executive and President, and extend this to the Executive and Council, ensuring they are well-prepared and briefed.
Oversee critical governance processes including Law Society elections, policy reviews, and records management and governance policies and procedures.
Play an active part in achieving the Society’s Strategic Plan, assisting senior leadership in organising, monitoring, and coordinating key projects and activities.
Supervise and coordinate staff performing the coordination of various administrative and logistical tasks that ensure seamless operations.
What You Bring to the Table
We're looking for someone who embodies professionalism and efficiency. You'll need:
Superior written and oral expression is a must, enabling you to draft materials, proofread communications and papers with precision and excellence.
A logical, politically aware mindset with the ability to think strategically and liaise effectively with senior leaders and members of the legal profession.
Navigate successfully a busy meeting schedule with multiple priorities, managing deadlines, and maintaining meticulous records.
Demonstrated ability to competently manage assigned projects and major tasks with independence, care, and initiative.
Experience in working closely with and administering executive-level committees, including proficient minute-taking for boards or equivalent bodies.
A strong appreciation for confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and the ability to operate within these structures.
A solid understanding of good governance principles and the processes needed to comply with rules, legislation, and regulations.
High-level competence in MS Office (including Teams), databases, and similar technologies.
Desirable Attributes That Will Make You Shine:
Experience in a legal or professional organisation environment.
A keen interest in public affairs and current community issues.
Relevant tertiary academic qualifications.
Working With Us
This senior position carries significant responsibility in managing the Society's business. While generally 9.00 am - 5.00 pm, flexibility is key to meet the demands of the role, with regular attendance at after-hours meetings is incorporated into the package for the successful candidate.
