About the role

As our Executive Support Officer, you will be pivotal in delivering high-calibre executive assistance. This position primarily reports to the Manager, Strategy and Operations and provides direct executive support to the CEO, a small team of Executive Directors and our five Commissioners. In this role, you will enable smooth executive operations and help drive informed decision-making that upholds our consumer-focused objectives

Your responsibilities will include:

Executive Support: Deliver comprehensive administrative assistance to the CEO, a small team of Executive Directors and our five Commissioners as they require.

Meeting & Minute Management: Organise and manage high-level meetings—from drafting detailed agendas using Diligent board management software to capturing succinct, actionable minutes.

Document & Information Management: Utilise advanced document management systems (Objective and Diligent) to handle sensitive information securely and efficiently.

Time & Priority Management: Skilfully manage conflicting deadlines across various communication channels (Teams Chat, SMS, email) to ensure seamless executive operations.

Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate clear, proactive communication among internal teams, regulatory bodies, external partners, and our Commissioners, ensuring our actions consistently align with our commitment to consumer protection.

About you

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

Relevant Experience: A proven track record in executive support, ideally within a statutory or regulatory environment. Prior exposure to economic regulation and secretariat services is highly desirable but not essential.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills using digital tools and document management platforms (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive, Objective, Microsoft Teams), and a willingness and ability to learn and utilise new platforms and tools as required.

Organisational Excellence: Expertise in prioritising tasks, managing competing deadlines, delivering work program requirements, and maintaining detailed, accurate records.

Interpersonal Skills: A proactive communicator and collaborator who thrives under pressure and works effectively both one-on-one and in team-oriented environments.

Adaptability: The ability to rapidly adjust to shifting priorities and new challenges while ensuring precision and focus in supporting our executive team and the Board of Commissioners.

About the Commission

The Commission is a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body to protect the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services. We add long-term value to the South Australian community by meeting our that objective through independent, ethical and expert regulatory decisions and the provision of robust advice to Government. Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues, and provide advice to local government.
