Come for a career and stay for a lifestyle!
Are you passionate about creating safe, fun, and engaging experiences for young people? Do you have a knack for connecting with youth, building relationships, and delivering programs that make a real impact? The City of Karratha is looking for a vibrant, committed Youth Officer to join our team and help shape the future for young people aged 11–18 across our community.
As a Youth Officer, you'll work under the guidance of our Senior Youth Officer to develop, deliver and evaluate meaningful programs that activate youth spaces and promote positive socialisation, recreation, and community connection. Whether it’s coordinating a youth festival, leading a skate comp, or simply being a trusted mentor at one of our vibrant youth spaces, no two days will be the same!
What you’ll do:
- Deliver dynamic and inclusive youth programs that align with our Youth Strategy.
- Support young people with empathy, care, and professionalism – including making appropriate referrals when needed.
- Maintain safe and welcoming youth facilities, ensuring every visitor feels respected and included.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders, community members, and service providers.
- Promote a positive image of young people in the community.
- Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends (because that’s when youth are most active!).
What you’ll bring:
- Experience working with young people, particularly those from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a passionate team.
- A qualification (or progress toward) in Youth Work, Social Work, or Community Services is desirable.
- A current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate, and C-Class Driver’s Licence.
Why join us?
- Work in a progressive and supportive team that values innovation and impact.
- Be part of a community-focused organisation with genuine passion for youth development.
- Enjoy a unique lifestyle opportunity in the stunning Pilbara region.
- Contribute to meaningful programs that create real change in young lives.
If you're a role model with a heart for youth and a drive to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
