We offer

Salary $98,601 per annum depending + superannuation.

Annual salary increase every year based on CPI.

Salary packaging (up to $15,899 a year, + meal/entertainment benefit of $2,650 a year).

10 days Noongar Cultural Leave per year

5 days Compassionate Leave per occasion

5 weeks annual leave per year + 3 days paid Christmas shut down + 17.5% leave loading

LSL vested after 7 years of service.

Role description

Engage with Noongar communities and the GKB membership, to promote the delivery of strategy for building a sustainable corporation valued by the membership.

Location

Bunbury, with regular travel throughout the Gnaarla Karla Boodja region and the South West of WA, will be required.

Hours

Full time – permanent

Duties

Corporate

Undertake meeting logistics and participate in the AGM, Community Meetings & Southwest Leadership Group. Logisitics include TA reports, room hire, AV requirements and catering and communicate these arrangements to meeting participants.

Maintain timely communication with team members and CSC staff in relation to arrangements of all meetings (such as Community meetings, etc).

Maintain data of Aboriginal businesses within the Gnaala Karla Booja Region, Noongar Region, and other Aboriginal businesses.

Facilitate appropriate social media information that engages and informs Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation members.

Maintain file notes on all meetings, maintain accurate attendance lists, time and date of meetings, location and potential opportunities, impacts, and follow up actions required.

Corporation requirements around record management (for reporting purposes)

Community

Encourage and support Noongar activities throughout the region including the delivery of Gnaala Karla Booja annual NAIDOC celebrations.

Identify opportunities to promote Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation membership to community members.

Develop an annual schedule of community engagement to increase membership and awareness of the Corporation.

Identify partnership opportunities with other Aboriginal Corporations and community organisations to promote Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation membership and business.

Maintain community connection, briefing management as required about important issues and areas of concern facing the local community.

Working extensively with community agencies in accessing resources. Implement data base for these resources with all contact details.

Foster positive relationships between GKB members and the wider community.

Support the local GKB community by providing guidance to resources and local agencies as needed.

Policy

Research and draft briefing notes, correspondence, and social policy relevant to the Corporation.

Oversee the drafting and delivery of the Gnaala Karla Booja seasonal newsletter.

Provide a culturally safe environment and contribute to the implementation of the necessary policies.

Undertake other duties as directed.

Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Highly Developed organisational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to foster successful relationships along with a commitment to the development and advancement of the Noongar community.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in a cross-cultural context

Proven ability to provide updates, communicate with various stakeholders, and disseminate information to ensure all relevant stakeholders are well informed as required.

Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures and communities, particularly within the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation Region and Noongar regions.

Proven track record of working collaboratively within a team environment.

Strong initiative and problem-solving ability

Desirable Experience

Knowledge and understanding of Gnaala Karla Booja/Noongar society and culture and the challenges and issues facing the Noongar community.
