About The Environmental Group Limited

Our mission is to engineer a sustainable future. The Environmental Group Limited is an environmental engineering company that provides products and engineering services to various industries to improve environmental outcomes.

The Group has several operating divisions, including Waste for recycling and sorting technologies, Total Air Pollution Control for gas emissions, particle removal, and odour controls, Energy for combustion efficiency, heat exchange, biomass boilers, and autoclaves, Baltec for noise control intake and off-take systems, and turbines, and EGL Water for PFAS separation technology. Our vision allows all its divisions to play a role in providing a one-stop-shop solution for waste treatment across the circular economy.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and driven individual with a unique blend of project management, technical sales, and engineering design capabilities to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Creo (or similar 3D CAD software) and a solid grasp of mechanical engineering concepts, coupled with the commercial acumen to manage client relationships and project delivery from sales concept through to final handover.

You will be pivotal in bridging the gap between engineering design, project execution, and client engagement, ensuring our turnkey recycling, material handling systems and PFAS extraction technology meet expectations — on time, on budget, and beyond spec.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. With a strategic mindset and a strong eye for detail, they bring creativity and technical insight to every project. This role requires a hands-on approach, combining business development acumen with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for both clients and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Commercial Engagement

Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across the Australian waste management sector, with a focus on expanding market presence and diversifying revenue streams.

Lead the end-to-end sales lifecycle including prospecting, client engagement, solution presentation, tender preparation, contract negotiation, and deal closure.

Build, strengthen, and manage long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to foster trust and encourage repeat business.

Develop and deliver compelling, technically sound proposals and quotations that align with both client requirements and company capabilities.

Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline using CRM systems to support strategic forecasting, performance tracking, and opportunity management.

Collaborate closely with internal teams—including engineering, operations, and finance—to ensure commercial alignment and successful project delivery.

Provide strategic input into go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and service positioning to enhance competitive advantage.

Work cross-functionally with site managers, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.

Represent the company at trade shows, industry forums, networking events, and conferences, promoting our comprehensive solutions and technical services to key industry audiences.

Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify emerging opportunities and shape future service offerings.

Technical & Design Engineering

Translate conceptual sales drawings into precise, manufacturing-ready designs using Creo, ensuring all outputs reflect client-specific requirements and project objectives.

Collaborate with the design team to develop innovative, value-engineered solutions that enhance performance, reduce cost, and align with evolving customer expectations.

Play a key role in tender submissions by contributing technically robust, tailored designs that strengthen bid competitiveness and maximise win potential.

Liaise with production and supply chain teams to ensure design intent is clearly communicated, technically sound, and seamlessly integrated across project stages.

Champion a customer-first approach by adapting technical solutions to meet unique operational challenges, regulatory requirements, and site constraints.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 4 years’ experience in a hybrid role encompassing technical design, project delivery, and sales or business development responsibilities.

Demonstrated success in client-facing roles, with strong commercial acumen and a proactive approach to identifying and securing new business opportunities.

Proficient in Creo (or SolidWorks) and other 3D CAD software, with a track record of delivering high-quality, manufacturing-ready designs.

Solid technical knowledge of fabrication processes, materials handling systems, and/or recycling plant design is highly desirable.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Prior experience within engineering, manufacturing, or waste/recycling industries, with a clear understanding of operational and market dynamics.

Confident user of CRM and ERP systems to manage pipelines, track customer interactions, and support cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Skills:

In-depth industry knowledge across waste management, recycling, and environmental engineering, with insight into regulations and emerging trends.

Skilled in delivering client-specific technical solutions that meet operational and compliance demands.

Proven business development expertise, with a strong track record in converting opportunities within industrial and municipal waste sectors.

Experienced in managing complex projects, aligning commercial goals with engineering and operational delivery.

Successful contributor to tenders, from technical documentation and costing to persuasive client presentations.

Trusted advisor with strong stakeholder engagement across clients, regulators, and internal teams.

Well-versed in Australian standards and environmental compliance for plant, materials handling, and waste systems.

Practiced in value engineering and process optimisation to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Strong communicator with the ability to turn technical content into commercially compelling proposals.

Confident in CRM and ERP systems for data-led sales, forecasting, and pipeline management.

Personal Attributes:

Proactive self-starter with a strong drive to solve problems, deliver results, and pursue new opportunities independently.

Commercially aware with a keen eye for detail, while maintaining a clear focus on broader business and project objectives.

Thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with a flexible and adaptable mindset.

Excellent communicator, able to engage confidently across technical, operational, and commercial teams.

Highly organised and collaborative, with a strong sense of ownership, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
