SUMMARY
Excellent commercial legal role for a Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading organisation within the telecommunications sector. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney with hybrid working flexibility. Ideally seeking a senior commercial lawyer with 7+ years’ experience to join a well-regarded team and look after a range of in-house legal work including commercial contracts, compliance and corporate governance.

THE ROLE
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide commercial legal support for the organisation on matters including commercial contracts, compliance, and corporate governance. This permanent, full-time role is based in Chatswood, Sydney, with hybrid working flexibility.

Advise on a wide range commercial contracts, tenders, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance, including intercompany transactions and joint ventures.

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, such as client contracts, vendor agreements and partnership arrangements at all levels.

Manage legal risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, engaging with regulators as required.

Oversee dispute resolution processes, collaborating with external legal counsel when needed.

Support corporate governance activities, including board meetings and regulatory filings, while advising senior management on governance issues.

Mentor the legal team and enhance legal processes and procedures.

ABOUT YOU

7+ years post-admission experience in commercial and corporate law

Experience in legal advisory, contract management, compliance, and risk management

Skilled in drafting, negotiation, and managing commercial agreements

Familiarity with regulatory compliance and corporate governance

Any prior experience within telecommunications, education or not-for-profit sector will be beneficial

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial focus on mitigating legal risks

Able to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders

Collaborative team player capable of managing multiple priorities
