Our client is developing a world class, logistics infrastructure precincts across the eastern states of Australia.

The successful candidate will report into the Deputy General Counsel and work on a diverse range of commercial, project structuring, and competition matters. The position sits in a team of six Lawyers.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Advise on a broad range of commercial, regulatory, operational and strategic matters including complex joint venture arrangements.
  • Review and negotiate third-party agreements, customer-related contracts and open access arrangements.
  • Assist with compliance projects, policy reviews, and legal documentation updates.
  • Work closely with senior executives, including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment.
  • Implement risk management and mitigation strategies through the development of policies, procedures and educational/training programs.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Minimum 8 years PQE with experience in a leading corporate/major projects private practice law firm.
  • In-house (including secondment) experience in a major infrastructure project legal team with exposure to complex joint venture arrangements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in legal drafting, commercial negotiation, and contract implementation advisory for complex major projects. They will possess strong negotiation skills to effectively engage with counterparties, contractors, and external stakeholders, including suppliers.

We are seeking an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills to influence and build lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels, even while managing conflicting deadlines.

Awareness of the freight and logistics/supply chain industry, legislative regimes, and regulatory environment is highly desirable.

This team works a hybrid role, central CBD and WFH. Other benefits include 18 weeks paid parental leave.
