About Mental Health Division:
Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.
Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.
We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Senior Neuropsychologist (Grade 4) to join our Mental Health Division.
This newly created, ongoing part-time (40 hours per fortnight) position offers an incredible opportunity to provide specialised neuropsychological support to individuals with complex mental health and neurological conditions across our community and bed based services.
As a Senior Neuropsychologist, you will:
- Lead neuropsychological assessments for individuals with severe mental illness, acquired brain injury, cognitive impairment, and substance use disorders, offering insights that shape clinical decisions and care pathways.
- Provide expert consultation and support across a multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic client care in both inpatient and community-based settings.
- Drive excellence in patient outcomes, from diagnostic clarification to the development of personalized intervention strategies and behavioral management plans.
- Empower clients and their families through psychoeducation and behavioral management approaches, ensuring clients are supported on their journey to recovery and successful discharge.
- Mentor and educate the mental health workforce, enhancing their understanding of neuropsychological impacts and helping to integrate these insights into clinical practice.
To be successful in this role you will have:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Neuropsychologist with:
- 10+ years of experience in clinical neuropsychology, particularly within mental health, neurological, and neuropsychiatric contexts.
- Expertise in neuropsychological assessments and differential diagnosis for a diverse range of psychiatric and neurological conditions.
- Clinical intervention skills, including psychoeducation, strategy implementation, and behavior management, tailored to clients with complex mental health challenges.
- A collaborative mindset and a demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven experience in mentoring and training staff to deepen their understanding of neuropsychological impacts on mental health recovery.
