Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist, Grade 4 to join Northern Health's Mental Health Division.
About Mental Health Division:
Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.
Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.
We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.
Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team within our Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit.
This is a rewarding and challenging role where you will provide leadership and professional governance to the psychologists working within the four acute inpatient units, provide advanced psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for adults experiencing acute mental health crises as required, often with complex and high-risk presentations.
You will have a key role in embedding trauma-informed, person-centred care within the ward, supporting both patients and staff through a psychologically informed model of care.

- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing psychological insights during clinical reviews and handovers
- Offer supervision and support to psychologists, psychology registrars and psychology students on placement
- Provide psychological consultation and training to the wider MDT to promote psychologically informed care.
- Contribute to service development, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead or support the implementation of trauma-informed and recovery-focused care models on the ward.
- Deliver specialist psychological assessments and interventions for service users with severe and enduring mental health difficulties
- Formulate complex cases and contribute to the development of individualised care plans.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 8 or more years of clinical experience as a Clinical Psychologist within public mental health.
- Experience and good working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic assessment and evidence based interventions for consumers within an inpatient setting.
- Skilled in working with individuals presenting with high levels of distress, risk, and complex needs.
- Confident in applying evidence-based psychological approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrated experience in providing supervision to clinical psychologists.
- Passionate about improving outcomes for individuals in acute mental health settings.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
