Welcome to Relational Minds

We’re a network of private mental health clinics focused on empowering parents to support their children’s emotional growth. We believe that helping parents and carers is the key to lasting change for children facing mental health challenges. Our work is guided by the principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE)—values that shape how we treat clients, colleagues, and ourselves.

We are excited to be opening a new clinic in Bendigo, building up on our existing clinics in Sunbury, Mildura and Telehealth services. We are passionate about supporting families in need, across regional Australia, wherever they are.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTQI+ communities, and people with disabilities.

About the Role

Relational Minds is seeking a passionate and experienced Mental Health Clinician / Therapist to join our growing Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Sunbury, VIC. This part-time or full-time role (minimum two day per week, with Fridays as a required workday and Tuesdays/Thursdays preferred) offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people and their families. The position is offered as an ongoing contract.

The role will focus on helping children thrive by supporting their parents. You’ll work closely with families to assess young people’s needs, develop mental health plans, and empower parents with therapeutic parenting skills.

We're looking for Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Speech Pathologists, Child and Family Therapists, Play Therapists, or related professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

Providing high-quality clinical assessments, therapy, and case management for children and adolescents presenting with a range of mental health concerns with a specific focus on mental health assessments and interventions for children and adolescents with mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, ASD, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and trauma-related concerns.

Supporting young people in developing functional life skills, including self-care, emotional regulation, sensory integration in environments, and social engagement through individual therapy or through parent support.

Offering parent support, coaching and education to support family-based interventions by helping carers better understand their child's needs and develop therapeutic parenting skills.

Providing ongoing guidance and counselling to parents using our relational framework

Collaborating with families, schools, and other healthcare providers to create individualised therapy plans.

Engage in specific individual, dyadic, parent or family-focused therapy as needed to compliment the broader relational work.

Provide discipline-specific assessments or treatments as needed

Documenting assessments, progress notes, and reports in line with clinical and legal requirements.

Participating in clinical supervision, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of our CAMHS service

What We're Looking For

A passion for working with parents and families

Experience in youth mental health assessment and trauma-informed and neurodevelopment approaches.

A collaborative, team-focused mindset that aligns with our values

Experience working with children/adolescents with neurodevelopment conditions (e.g., ASD, ADHD) is highly desirable.

A clinician with strong clinical assessment, mental health interventions and case management skills.

Experience working collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.

A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing learning.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy or other attachment based therapy training is desirable.

Essential Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in a specific discipline (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Early Childhood Development, Mental Health Nurse, or other related profession).

Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA), including Professional indemnity insurance.

Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening ID & current Police Check required.

What We Offer

At Relational Minds, we are dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and professional growth of our clinicians. In this role, you will benefit from:

Flexible part-time work arrangements (Minimum 1 day per week, with Fridays as a required workday).

Competitive hourly rate ($40 - $50 per hour, based on responsibilities and experience).

Ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and training opportunities.

A collaborative and supportive team in a values-driven mental health service.

A role with autonomy and the ability to shape your work in line with your professional skills.

Employee assistance program and wellbeing initiatives.

We are happy to negotiate a salaried or contracted position depending on role, hours and clinician preference.
