Senior Forensic Mental Health Clinician
Permeant Full time (80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADO)
About the Role
The Forensic Clinical Specialist, supports the building of capacity within the Adult Mental Health & Wellbeing Service in assisting consumers with highly complex challenges associated with co-morbid mental health and forensic issues. The role also works with Aged Person's Mental Health Services and provides support and secondary consultation to the Child and Youth Mental Health Services. This role supports Mental Health and Wellbeing Services across the Grampians region.
This role will involve the provision of primary and secondary consultation regarding identified consumers with mental health and forensic issues, to assist services in developing appropriate recovery and risk mitigation plans; as well as supporting service development and training and education on contemporary practice regarding risk assessment and the management of consumers with complex forensic issues. This position will have ongoing support and training from Forensicare to assist with the development of service delivery development initiatives in supporting this consumer group.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications (Dependant on discipline)
- AHPRA Registration, Nurse Division 1 - Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and a minimum of 8 years' experience in mental health, or;
- Degree or Master's qualification in Social Work with Accredited Mental Health Social Work credential; eligible for AASW membership, with a minimum of 10 years' mental health experience, or;
- AHPRA Registration and Degree or Master's qualification in Occupational Therapy with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience, or;
- AHPRA Registration and Master's qualification in Clinical, Forensic or Neuropsychology with a minimum of 8-10 years of experi
Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated clinical competence at a senior level, including in community psychiatric settings.
- Expertise in the assessment of psychiatric disorders including diagnostic, personality, and cognitive assessments.
- Experience in developing and implementing rehabilitation/recovery plans for dual diagnosis and forensic consumers.
- Proven ability to deliver psychoeducation to consumers and families.
- High-level written and oral communication skills and effective multidisciplinary team collaboration.
